The Invention of Soda

The invention of soda started out as the discovery of why the mineral water in springs had gotten their bubbles from. This had been caused by the carbon dioxide from the gorund which caused it to bubble. In 1676, a company had sold the first soft drinks: the lemonade. This was a non carbonated drink yet. In !767, Joseph Priestly had made the first drinkable carbonated drink. This was not a flavored drink yet. A few years later, a swedish had found a way to make carbonated water in very large quantities. His name was Torber Burgman. In 1810, the first patent was issued to Simons and Rundell, who were from Charelston, South Carlolina. This patent was for the mass production of mineral water. Carbonated drinks werent very popular in the United States until 1832, When a person named John Mathews had made a machine that produced carbonated water in large numbers. Back then, carbonated drinks were used as medicines and were only available at pharmacies. Then as the demand grew, people had wanted to take this drink wherever they wanted without the drink losing its gas. There was many ideas for the new top like corcks but the real winner was the crown cork bottle seal. This was invented in 1892 by a person named William Painter. This had been the first successful way of bottling drinks without the carbon dioxide coming out.

Coca Cola Vs. Pepsi

When there is growth and prosperity, there must be competitors. This is one war you have to see. The Great Coca Cola and Pepsi War. Coca Cola had been first invented by Doctor John Pemberton in May, 1886. He had made this in his pharmacy in Atlanta, Georgia. He had made the logo himself which is still being used as the current logo today. It was sold as a tonic until 1905. The main ingredients back then were caffeine enriched kola nuts and a very special ingredient:cocaine! Then the ingredients changed eventually. Pepsi had been invented by Celeb Bradham in New Bern, North Carolina in 1893, which is a bit younger than the Coca Cola Company. It was first named Brad's drink until 1898 when it changed to Pepsi. This was because of its main ingredient:pepsin and kola nuts.
