Candy Bars?                                   or  are they                                Candy?

Candy bars have been a sweet treat to enjoy for over 150 years. The "chocolate bar" was invented by Joseph Fry in 1847, it was a small invention that over time massively grew into an American icon. This milestone transtitioned into the invention of milk chocolate by Henry Nestle and Daniel Peter, giving the big names in candy bars, their rightful place in the world of treats! With Hersey, Nestle, and Mars to chose from, the candy bar had nothing but room to grow.

From the early on times, chocolate bars were eaten, but tasted bittersweet. After a deal of thinking the first milk chocolate bar was created by Henry Nestle and Daniel Peter in 1875, and milk chocolate is actually perferred by 80% of the world's population. At the 1893 Columbian Exposition, they displayed chocolate-making machinery that was nade in Dresden, Germany. Milton S. Hershey, who made a fortune in caramel making, installed chocolate machinery in his factory in Lancaster, and he then created his first chocolate bars in 1894. In candy bars, one of the main ingredients is now milk chocolate. Some of the very first chocolate bars transitioned into what is now known as the candy bar. The name change was signifigant because they were no longer just chocolate bars anymore, some began to include cetain candies or treats. Such as, peanuts or peanut butter, or caramel, even cookies.

Candy bars today, are being created into many works of food art. There is ice cream that can feature your favorite candy bar.

There is even deep fried candy bars.

From years ago, candy bars aren't only being made in the U.S., even in different parts of the world they have and are still being produced and enjoyed. In Canada, they hold the record for the world's oldest candy bar.

There is always the questions of candy and candy bars. What makes it its own? Candy making is an exact science and recipes include the use of crystalline and other sugars as its main ingredient. In all cases, each type of sugar-based candy pretty much starts out the same. Crystalline sugar ( a solute) and sometimes corn syrup are dissolved in a liquid, usually water (a solvent) to make a sugar solution, which is then heated and boiled into a liquid, sugar syrup. This is done to a certain temperature, concentration, and color  depending on the recipe. Flavoring, cream, chocolate, nuts or other ingredients can be added, either before, during or after cooking, some serving as what it called interfering agents such as lemon juice, butter, cream, etc. Plus, the solution may be stirred at pre-determined times, cooled and shaped in a certain way, resulting in different types of candy and textures. Candy bars are a confection in the form of a bar comprising either some or all of the components of cocoa solids, cocoa butter, suger, and milk. They have the presence of most chocolates, like, milk chocolate, dark chocolate, and white chocolate. Even in addition to these main ingredients, candy bars may also contain emulsifiers such as soy lecthin and vanilla flavors. They are often coated with chocolate and are packaged in wrappers for one person, yet a wide varitey of candy bars do exist. They can range from solid chocolate bars, like a milk chocolate Hershey's bar, to multiple layerings, like a Twix bars, or mixtures of ingredients such as fruits, nuts, caramel or fondant, like a Snickers bar.
