There are a wide varieties of apples in the world. In my rsearch i've seen over 100 apples that have been discovered. There's Lady In The Snow, King Cole, mother, mio, princess, pineapple, rambo, etc. There's just so many but I won't talk about the rest of them.  But, there about 5 apples that are commonly known among the world: red delicious, Granny Smith, gala, fuji, and golden delicious. The apple types are sorted by three main distinctions. By there look, taste, and the climate of where there grown make up the apple family.

Apples been around ever since time started with Adam and Eve and there were so many. In the 16th century Issac Newton thanks to a apple influenced him to formula for the law of gravity. When people migrated to America they brought apple seeds with them and planted them as they arrived. So you see apples been around for too many years. John Chapman was like Johnny Appleseed. The legend came up because of him. He headed west planting seeds as he go.

Make your intro more general. Tell us what apples without making it a narrative. Good bibliography.
